Job Description

This is a full time, tenure track position for an experienced School Social Worker.

Victor offers Pre-K through 12 programming. Highlights include enrichment programs, computer and technology, Advanced Placement, and performing arts opportunities in addition to standard curriculum.

A variety of instructional settings are available throughout the schools including multi-age, blended, and co-taught teaching. The district has a broad spectrum of special education programming, physical education and athletics, and the visual and performing arts. 

Victor Central School District is located in the northwest part of Ontario County and serves portions of Wayne and Monroe counties, as well. While the majority of students reside in the towns of Farmington and Victor, East Bloomfield, Macedon, Fairport, and Perinton are also represented. The district is conveniently located off of the NYS Thruway.

Job Qualifications

Valid New York State certification as a School Social Worker is required. Successful experience as a School Social Worker is required. 

Serves as liaison among home, school and community, developing relationships necessary for improving learning conditions for students.

Consults with teachers in the development of plans to improve "in school" relationships of pupils, including but not limited to, interviews within the school, interviews within the home environment, agency consultation, provides relevant data to appropriate personnel, suggests materials and techniques for children with concerns related to their social and emotional wellbeing, etc.

Provides direct service to individuals and small groups within the home and within the school

Develops and coordinates special projects available to youth throuhg local, state, and federal grants

Administers district's free lunch program, including the publication of eligibility data, processing of applications, maintenance of accurate records, etc. 

Confers with parents/guardians as necessary and makes recommendations to them with regard to services for students

Serves as member of building and district-wide pupil personnel service teams, primary project, etc.

Develops social histories as required for the Committee on Special Education

Understands and updates student's IEP and/or 504 plans

Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through continued reading and study and through membership on building/district committees and in professional organizations
